Meet Sara Rae Lancaster . . .

Hi there! It's so nice to meet you.
Meeting new people and making new connections
is one of the main reasons I decided to pursue a
career in journalism and brand storytelling.
Here's a snapshot of who I am, what I do, and how
I can help your publication or business achieve its
writing, editing and communication goals.

is one of the main reasons I decided to pursue a
career in journalism and brand storytelling.

AT WORK: I view my role as more than a writer, editor or word-savvy marketer. I like to think of myself as a Professional Life Explorer and Storyteller. My work lets me meet new people, discover businesses and brands, explore new ideas and see the world through a new pair of eyes. I then have the honor and responsibility of telling their stories—stories that connect, inform and engage the reader or customer. You may have seen my work in Milwaukee Magazine, The Writer, Woodland Magazine, Rails to Trails Magazine, Route 66 Magazine, Third Coast Woman blog and other print and online publications. (You can also view my portfolio here.)
I also spent several successful years as a copywriter and book editor with the Reader’s Digest Association and Taste of Home brands. In these roles, I immersed myself in the creative marketing and book publishing industries, contributed innovative ideas, wrote effective marketing copy for print and digital platforms, and developed and edited dozens of cooking and home entertaining book titles.
While the written word is my primary focus, past experience and training in broadcast media (both reporting and producing) make me a versatile pro who understands how to effectively communicate ideas across multiple media channels, be it verbally, visually, or audibly. Whatever the media of choice, my goal remains the same: create stories that connect, inform, and engage the audience.

AT PLAY: When I'm not conducting interviews, writing copy or showing deadlines who's boss, you'll find me somewhere in the great outdoors, most likely running, mountain biking, hiking or camping.

To relax, I enjoy spending time with husband, our rescue dogs, and the 20+ honeybee colonies we keep. I'm addicted to long-distance running (I've completed 10 marathons and five half marathons to date), I thru-hiked all 176+ miles of the River-to-River Trail in southern Illinois, and once biked for two days through the Copper Harbor Mountain Bike Trail System on what I would later learn was a fractured ankle.
Why do I mention all this? Because I bring the same level of passion, curiosity, dedicated follow-through to my work -- and your project!
Thanks for stopping by. I look forward to working with you!
